What are the benefits of emotional wellness coaching?

Maybe you’re feeling stuck, maybe you need a listening ear, a sounding board. Many of us are experiencing a collective trauma right now and benefit from the support of a wellness coach to help them achieve their goals. Coaching helps clients stay accountable as we will have regular check ins and figure out what works best for your lifestyle.

Why not therapy instead?

Both can be done at the same time. I strongly encourage folks to work with a therapist to get that deep emotional processing. Sometimes you need to let it out and sit in the feelings. That’s totally okay too. Throughout my experience in the mental health field, I’ve gathered a bunch of resources to support folks on their therapy journey. I also have recommendations to local therapists in the Atlanta area (and beyond) who are diverse and inclusive.

Are you licensed?

Although I don’t have a license to practice therapy, I do hold the highest coaching credential by the National Board of Medical Examiners. This credential is given by the NBHWC.

I am a board certified Emotional Wellness Coach and received my training from Wavelife Coaching. Prior to coaching, I received my Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. During that time, I worked at Grady Hospital’s Behavioral Health Center and provided individual and group therapy sessions to individuals with severe and persistent mental health disorders. Upon completion of my master’s program, I pivoted to coaching by joining a large tech startup as a behavioral health coach. During my time here, I have coached hundreds of individuals both nationally and internationally on a variety of emotional and behavioral wellness issues. I have 5years of experience in mental health coaching, and over 6 years servicing the mental health field.

What approach do you take when coaching?

I like to take the compassionate and solution-focused approach when working with my clients. I find that clients tend to get really discouraged when they don’t meet their goals. While working with me, I use compassion, kindness, and work with you to create a solution that aligns with your values and fits in your lifestyle.

What are the benefits of working with a coach?

Coaches have a unique ability to help you reach your wellness goals. Through coaching, we’ll create a plan together via the “SMART” goals framework. Because coaching doesn’t require insurance, you can do several sessions over the course of 3, 6, or 9 months. Coaching is great for those who have some goals in mind or need help putting together a plan to access their goals. You’ll also have check-ins to assess your progress.

For a first-timer, what is coaching like?

Congrats on making the first step which is booking a 30-minute consultation with me! In this meeting, we’ll go over your needs and desires for the next 3, 6, 9, or 12 months. You’ll receive a goal workbook to complete prior to the first coaching session where we will discuss any limitations and roadblocks that might be in your way. You will always receive homework at the end of our session that are relevant to your issues and we’ll work together to find any resources you might benefit from. Everything is available via Google Docs and you’ll have access to your goals worksheet, resources, and more.
